Instructor Greg Hayes has been training in Martial Arts training since 1971. From 1980-87 in the San Francisco/ Bay Area of California, under Grandmaster Wong Jack Man of San Francisco; studying Hsing Yi, Praying Mantis, Tai Chi, Lui Ho, Lohan, push hands and Northern Shaolin.
Sifu Wong Jack Man's lineage goes back to when the Ching soldier burned the Shaolin Temple in the 1700s,
The form Jade Dragon, originates from the Wide Circle of Kung Fu, see: Joe Greenstein/The Mighty Atom, Atlas. Marshmallow Gut (Cotton Belly), part of Iron Shirt-Golden Bell; also originates in meditative practices learned from the Wide Circle of Kung Fu, as does the Chi Sau (Sao) meditations; physical, non-physical and un-physical.
The Tai Chi form originates from the Berkeley Chinese Cultural Center. Ba Gua comes mainly from the late Mr. S. T. Ying of Berkeley, California.
Nunchakas, two piece, and three piece; are also taught.
Continuous and returning fist; Yang style; short and long forms. Qi Gong (Chi Kung), and push hands basics. Five move and 101 move forms. Health, internal strength, calm spirit, and a sure technique for self defense; are some of the benefits from studying from an acknowledged teacher.
The internal styles of Hsing Yi (based on the 5 elements of Acupuncture), and Ba Gua (Pa Kua); are taught, along with their associated Nei Gong and Qi Gong. Praying Mantis, Jing concepts, Northern Shaolin, and pressure points; will be taught to advanced students. Chi Sau and meditation are included. Shaolin is based upon Buddhist concepts.
